CLEVELAND, Ohio – Another Bourbon treasure hunt is under way in Ohio.

Columbus-based Watershed Distillery and Ohio Liquor have chosen seven exclusive single barrel selections that are available at select liquor stores throughout the state.

Watershed was the first-ever Ohio bourbon producer chosen by Ohio Liquor to participate in a private single-barrel release in 2021. This marks the third year of the partnership. Ohio Liquor’s single-barrel program is marking its sixth year.

Note: This is not the lottery that Ohio Liquor has done for special or rare bottles. This is a treasure hunt, so don’t expect to find all seven at each location. Different agencies get different bottles.

Campfire Bonbon - 129.5 proof. Tasting notes: Light, marshmallow notes.

Caramel Cream Delight – 131.1 proof. Tasting notes: Sweet aroma, followed by notes of vanilla cream, butterscotch, caramel, a hint of brown sugar and robust oak spice on the finish.

Honeypot – 128.9 proof. Tasting notes: Honey nut cereal, banana bread, wheat, honeycomb.

Malted Heaven – 128.2 proof. Tasting notes: Notes of Craisins and tartness with lingering finish.

Plum Crazy – 128.2 proof. Tasting notes: Rich and complex, reminiscent of Brandy, Scotch or Tawny Port, with plum and raisin flavors.

Scrumptious Brown Sugar – 128.4 proof. Aroma of candy with a consistently sweet brown-sugar flavor, reminiscent of Cognac.

Stonefruit Nectar – 130 proof. Light, buttery nose with flavors of apricot and green tea. Creaminess and smooth finish.

Representatives said in a press release that 15 single barrels were sampled before the seven were selected. All are aged more than four years in Ohio-coopered American White Oak barrels and will cost $59.99 per bottle plus tax. Go to OHLQ.com for locations.

Watershed has scheduled several bottle signings, including one with cask manager Ryan Venrick 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Brimfield Liquor, 3975 Cascades Blvd., Kent. For other signings in the state, go online.
